Where k-pop comes from
Modern K-pop took shape in 1990s South Korea with groups such as Seo Taiji and Boys, then grew through agencies such as SM, YG and JYP into a global industry known for intensive training and performance-led releases.
What makes a track sound like k-pop
- Section-by-section genre switches
- A dedicated dance break
- Dense layered production
- Signature catchphrase hooks
Typical structure
Intro hook, rap or verse, pre-chorus, chorus, second verse, bridge, dance break, final chorus. Usually around 3 minutes.
Vocals in k-pop
K-pop songs usually pass the lead between several voices: rap verses, a sung pre-chorus and a powerful group chorus. Ask for "group vocals with a rap verse and a belted chorus" to get that shape.
Prompting tips
List the section changes you want ("trap verse, EDM pre-chorus, pop chorus, dance break") so the generator has a map to follow.
Asking only for "K-pop style" tends to produce plain pop. The genre switches and dance break are what make it recognisable.
