Length
Intros of 5 to 15 seconds, section beds of 1 to 3 minutes, and an outro sting. Generating several short cues usually works better than one long track.
Levels and loudness
YouTube normalises playback to roughly -14 LUFS, so there is little benefit in mastering louder. Under narration, a common starting point is to keep music around 15 to 20 dB below the voice.
Licensing
Tracks you generate on any paid plan can be used in monetised YouTube videos. Keep your account email or download receipt in case a claim ever needs to be disputed. The full terms are on the licensing page.
A workflow that works
- Write one prompt per section of your edit, for example intro, main talk, b-roll, outro
- Generate at the length of each section
- Duck the music under dialogue in your editor
- Add a short sting for transitions
Avoid busy lead melodies under speech. A track that sounds great alone can make narration harder to follow.
Prompts for YouTube videos
Light, curious background music for a tech review, soft plucks, gentle beat, no strong melody, 2 minutes
Upbeat intro sting for a cooking channel, 8 seconds, marimba and handclaps, ends on a clear hit
Calm lo-fi bed for a long talking-head video, steady and unobtrusive, loops cleanly
