LUFS

LUFS (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale) measures perceived loudness, the standard used by streaming and broadcast.

Unlike peak meters, LUFS approximates how loud audio feels to a listener over time. Integrated LUFS averages the whole track.

Platforms normalise to targets: many streaming services play back around -14 LUFS, Apple recommends -16 LUFS for podcasts, and European broadcast follows EBU R128 at -23 LUFS. A track mastered louder than a platform’s target is simply turned down.

Every track page in our free library lists measured integrated loudness for its preview.

Using it in a prompt

You do not need to put LUFS in a prompt; set loudness when exporting or mixing. Do mention "quiet, even dynamics" if the music must sit under speech.
