Reverb

Reverb simulates the reflections of sound in a space, from a small room to a cathedral.

Every room adds reflections that tell the ear how big the space is. Short, dense reverb sounds like a small room; long, diffuse reverb sounds like a hall or cathedral. Plate and spring reverbs are mechanical devices with their own colours, used heavily in classic pop and reggae.

Too much reverb blurs detail; too little can make music sound dry and close.

Using it in a prompt

Name a space: "small room sound", "big hall reverb", "cathedral reverb", or "dry and intimate". Dreamy styles often benefit from "long reverb tails".
