Bridge

A bridge is a contrasting section, usually after the second chorus, that leads back to the final chorus.

The bridge introduces new chords, a new melody or a change of texture so the final chorus feels fresh. In 32-bar AABA jazz standards, the B section is also called the bridge.

Bridges are often where songs change key, drop to a sparse arrangement or build toward the climax.

Using it in a prompt

Ask for "a stripped-back bridge" or "bridge with a key change" to add contrast in longer tracks.
